After testing many different free mailing scripts, I have determined that Dada Mail is the best and also easiest to install and use. Although the script is "free," the author requests that commercial users pay $50 to support the author and help provide for future enhancements. The program is worth much more than the $50 requested.
The site launched with a couple of hundred listings and was soon helping thousands of visitors a day find their way through the email jungle to find the most appropriate email service. These days, over a quarter of a million visitors a month come here to explore the email options open to them, from POP3 email to web-based email, IMAP mail or email forwarding services.
A powerful program designed to allow hands-free maintenance while building a mailing list/prospect base. Use the ability to ban e-mail addresses and even entire domains from subscribing. Includes improved interface, option to send mail as HTML or text, one-click unsubscription link, avoidance of browser timeout, editable HTML and E-mail text responses, administration panel offers links to latest updates available, and more.
Majordomo is a program which automates the management of Internet mailing lists. Commands are sent to Majordomo via electronic mail to handle all aspects of list maintenance. Once a list is set up, virtually all operations can be performed remotely by email, requiring no intervention upon the postmaster of the list site.
Majordomo controls a list of addresses for some mail transport system (like sendmail or smail) to handle. Majordomo itself performs no mail delivery (though it has scripts to format and archive messages).
NOMODOMO is actually two scripts. One is driven by HTML form on your site to allow users to subscribe and unsubscribe to various mailing lists. The other script is a very easy to use and powerful administrative management tool. If MajorDomo is not available to you, or too much of a hassle- this could be just the script for you.
At the time of this review, there were no FAQ's available on their e-list service. They do offer offsite examples, but there's not much to gain from that. There are a lot of questions you should have answers to before using a mailing list. Maybe an email to the webmaster would help if you are interested.
